Hey There!
I’m Giulia and I am an Associate Lecturer in International Relations (Teaching) in the Department of Political Science at the University College London (UCL). I have a PhD in International Conflict Analysis from the School of Politics and International Relations at the University of Kent, UK. My PhD research investigates radicalisation processes of the Italian far left during the so-called ‘Years of Lead’, taking a psychological approach. Particularly, through the lenses of Rosenberg’s moralistic categories and Gestalt psychology, I examine how specific ways of understanding our surrounding environment, particularly inter-personal and social relations, affect engagement in violence. I’m also interested in investigating how these can affect disengagement from violence to direct us to more successful ways of building long-term peace.

My research interests include political violence, conflict and conflict resolution, radicalisation processes, extremism, peace, restorative justice, socio- and cognitive psychology, qualitative methodology, interpretive methodology.
